Advent Blessings

Blessed Advent to each of you! Advent is a time when we “expect” something; something very important that changed the world…the birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ.

Driving home from our Thanksgiving celebration in Illinois, I noticed a billboard in downtown Milwaukee, placed there by the Salvation Army. Its message was simple: the big red kettle was pictured along with the words, “When you put money in our kettle, expect change.”

When you put money in your Mite Box, expect change, also. Change that is brought on by the saving work of Jesus Christ whose birth we celebrate in a few short weeks; change that His life-giving work of redemption won for all mankind. Change that is brought by sharing that Gospel through the 18 mission grants that were selected at the convention in 2007.

Thank you for being part of the most important change that anyone can expect!

May God richly bless each of you as you prepare your hearts and homes for the Christ child.

The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) is the official women’s auxiliary of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. For over 65 years, the LWML has focused on affirming each woman’s relationship with Christ, encouraging and equipping women to live out their Christian lives in active mission ministries and to support global missions.
